I liked the aesthetics
While you're editing you could try making the path longer, like adding a mine to the small tunnel near the exit key so you have to go around the left side to finish.

The problem is not the contrast
but that the contest tiles aren't particularly well laid out.
It feels like facing a boss in a videogame. The left side is the dungeon you just cleared and now you're in the boss' chamber. Or something. Whatever, I like it.
This would look great. I know that's not necessarily how you do things, it just seems like the skull's detached from the rest atm.

just based on looks
don't have time to play. Like the idea a lot. Feel eye sockets should be more polygonal to match the hexagons more. 1 tile zig zags don't seem to fit in so well fo me. would of preferred a futuristic desolate polygonal landscapey thing. zzbed
