I have always liked maps that feel like real places, and Caves has got that feel in spades. SPADES, yo. All the enemies patrol around minding their own business, happy in their own little ecosystem here in some spacious caves, and then you bust in and sneak around stealing stuff, touching weird buttons, and aggravating the locals. "But I need this gold right now, I have a medical condition," you implore the drones as only a 1% privileged ninja can, and they graciously reply by chasing you into a dark corner and electrocuting you. Whoops! — PALEMOON

Yeah, agreed with most others.
In individual parts, this map is more or less fundamentally sound. But it feels like something with a series of mechanics thrown into a blender rather than a real cohesive map, like it was more about filling up the screen with a series of mechanics than presenting one unified idea. 3-worthy at most imo.

The mine section.
Is neat. it's a single jump/hop that, if you time it well, feels pretty exhilarating.
I reckon all the moments are down, as individual parts they all work well.

blaaargh
I was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close goddamnit
I don't really see what's so remarkable about this map. The rocket section at the end is nice, but otherwise each bit just feels far too brief and routine to be terribly effective. The gausses, thwump and floorguard don't really do anything and the drone section is unnecessarily swamped with mines.

I love everything about this.
I literally have nothing to dislike here. That's why I rated it 5 (flawless).

Oh.
Well here's the map [nmaps.net], and it would seem that blackson was the only one arguing that position. Huh.

Oh no, that's fine.
I remember one of the first featured maps after I joined this site was a linear hoohah map and people were complaining and saying that all linearity is bad. Maybe I have an inaccurate perception on others' opinions because of that.

I didn't say there was.
Some maps benefit from it, others feel closed off by it.
This map felt like it had more to offer than the one path.

Like the design and each part.
If this had alternative routes and didn't force you to take a single path, it would be amazing.

Really interesting
Kind of an arty-type gameplay. Very freeform. 4aved

very slow speed
the left-most guass did nothing and provided no threat.
didn't like how the right guass (in conjunction with the oneways disrupted flow often when the rest of the map is so smooth
decent tiles, 3.5

Agd
The right side played well and gave a nice challenge, but the bottom left felt a bit empty and boring in comparison. As for aesthetics, nothing seemed cluttered and the tiles had a neat look. 3/5
