This reminds me of our recently featured map
I mean no offense to Blackwhite, but I mean cmon. Ya its good or a first map, no common mistakes. I'd usually give it a 3 cuz its kinda cool looking, maybe a 4 since its a first. But...shockwave??!? Chaostar??!? you guys are making a huge deal out of a map, and just that. Its a map you guys. You overinterpret the deepness and meaningful elements of pixels on a screen. Blackwhite didn't mean it that way...maybe he simply like how it looked with less objects, he forgot to put more in, was too lazy, couldn't beat the level with any more junk, or just decided not to. C'mon...this is a good map for a first, but its not flawless.

It's just
an incomplete map... a fairly standard, too.
Smattering a bunch of pseudo-philosophical guff all over it doesn't make it any more than that.

i was serious
in that i thought those thoughts when i tried to make sense of the map
this doesnt strike me as a shit map like every other first map is shit - theres no masses of gold or enemies, no stupid blocky tilesets, no common mistakes. hardly ever do you see a new player leave an exit out of the map.
it just struck me as puzzling that a map would come out like this - play that part with the gold and floorguard and mine, that's a challenge i would expect to see in your work, atob and amlt, not a new player.

"truly, the deepest map ever made."
That entire comment was gold, shockwave.
Unless... you're actually being serious?

Tileset gets a 4
Gameplay, 3. I'm rating as a tileset though. :)

i love it
it's an aesthetically stunning comment on the entire visceral experience of the game of n. the combination of organic and constuct mirrors the sometimes difficult mix of creative thought with the mechanical gameplay of n, and the enemies exhibit a minimalistic challenge for the player - entirely optional but amusing all the same. this minimal attitude copies or perhaps parodies the minimal style that a significant portion of nmaps holds to be the finest style of mapmaking.
the emptiness and lack of an exit of course highlights the overall lack of meaning and rating for maps - ie there are plenty of ideas and that's all there is, just ideas floating with no engagement, an empty world of unexamined thoughts - and the continual endless grind of mapmaking with little or no prospect of a crowning moment.
this map is why i prefer to play maps rather than make them.
another perspective to look at is the potential offered by this map. the author is clearly demonstrating his incredible capacity to create top-quality maps but deliberately sabotaging - or more accurately, disguising - this with the omission of necessary components. perhaps it is a comment on how the greatest of authors are revered for originality yet still subscribe to many basic commonalities, or perhaps it is simply a zen puzzle, a riddle to contemplate without an answer.
it is this last that strikes me true - just as the map has no exit and the player is forced to eventually kill themselves with boredom, despite the promise of an interesting and engaging full map from the hints offered in the current form, we can see this parallel in aspects of our lives and this website.
truly, the deepest map ever made.
5, faved.

Ok, seriously.
bolta1: read the tags. TILESET. This is not meant to be rated as a map. If you played it, and rated 5 based on the gameplay, you are wrong in as many ways as it is possible for one to be, and then some. Furthermore, this map cannot be considered a 'first map' because a map is comprised of a tileset plus objects. If a map has no objects then it is a tileset, not a map. This map, however, does have several objects, but it is my impression that it was not the author's intention to have those objects used in actual gameplay. Giving the author a generous benefit of doubt, I will rate this map a 3 based on the tileset alone, a rating which is based solely on aesthetics. If my rating were to be based on the gameplay, it would be a 0, because of a lack of replay elements or overall concept.

Its a bit empty
the tile set is good, but there is no exit or much gold. Still a very nice attempt at a first map. I will give you your first 5, see what it feels like lol.
