love the map, the name adds to it nicely for me (the gold puts me in mind of sand). I'm gonna ruin the mood by saying that the souls you mentioned are a male and female moose facing each other (the 2 middle left tiles), a cockrel facing right (top right tiles) and a bat (at the bottom)

I'd be happy to judge. And if there's ever a month where you aren't going to make a NUMAcon ask me, because I'd love to get people making some maps, I think it's a great community thing that we shouldn't be forgetting some months.
