If the reviewers

had committed like they should have, the forum thread wouldn't have got into the state it did and I wouldn't have had to reset the thing.

After the reset, we needed a gap in submissions to build up a reserve of reviews to keep the queue running smoothly, so there were three days of dead time which would have just been the previous map hanging there.

This is just a fun way to make an announcement, and what better place to recruit reviewers than from the reviewer queue?

Call it abuse if you want, I call it effective and for the benefit of everyone.

i very much appreciate the work you put in for the community. and i realize that i probably don't even see all the things that you do for us. but i do think that using the featured maps section for this abuses the system. the featured maps is not for public announcements. i support the solution, but i do not approve of the method in which it was promoted.
