Description | ~IGNORE THE THUMBNAIL~
Inspired by condog_111. I find a pink ninja is best. Use NReality. Download here: http://metanet.2.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=19543 For the Cave and Linear Competitions. ~WARNING: LOW VISIBILITY~ |

Here it is, Ernie's Cavern. Now this is a pioneering map. Those of you who weren't around before NReality may not know of EC, but it had a massive impact when it was made. It was the first map to really capitalize upon the possibilities introduced by NReality. I was among the first to play this (it's for one of my contests), and I was absolutely blown away. This may seem a bit low-tech compared today's NReality maps, but it's a real slice of mapping history, and still very fun. So, enjoy! — gloomp

More arguments...
I agree entirely with maximo.
As for the map, contrary to most other peoples opinions I found it quite enjoyable. Maybe a little anoying at times, but enjoyable.
Slow first try AGD.

worthy or not
It's pretty funny how many Acronyms gloomp assigns to random maps. Gameplay was nothing special, kind of pissed me off the first time I played it, but it is definately original.

When gloomp features a map
You know there's gonna be controversy...

No you guys don't get it
Criticize the maps, by all means. But stop bitching about it not being "feature worthy"
There is nothing that comment gains the community. Stop arguing about if the map is feature worthy. I don't care if you don't like the map, it doesn't make it less worthy of a feature, that's not the function of featuring. It's not to show you maps that are worthy of 5/5, it's to show you maps. End of story.
Gosh, if you guys have read any of my past comments, i'm one of the harshest critics on numa...Of course i'm okay with criticism.

Maximo:
Us olders users used the same argument to combat "overrated". It's a largely futile venture, no matter how irritating it is.

Maximo, I've got news for you.
It seems to me like the whole point of your comment was that if a map is featured, it should be immune to people who may not happen to like it. In other words, you think that people who don't like said featured map chould not be able to have an opinion about it. Besides, bad criticism helps people learn to make better maps. I mean, if people like atob and destiny had not given me criticism when I was new, I would never have learned, and I would never have gotten better at my maps. In other words, if someone dosn't like the map, that dosn't automatically make him some sort of bully, it just means he dosn't happen to like that map (unless he's a sniper, THEN its different.).

I swear this community is retarded
I mean the "feature" on the front page of numa is such a handy feature that, being a veteran of numa, is just amazing. It's such a good place to showcase maps that deserve to be showcased. For any reason. Showcase classics, showcase innovations, showcase plain good maps, showcase horrible maps to make a point about map making.
I swear, every time I open a featured map I read at least 5 posts saying "didn't deserve the feature." And my only thought is, "And why the fuck not?" I mean really, I genuinely enjoy the diversity of maps that come up on the feature list. I may not enjoy each map, and I may not even care the way the feature was written (another stupid argument, who cares about what was written, numa is about maps) but I know someone who comes to this site will see the feature and learn something from it about mapping.
When you people stop treating this place like it's your personal responsibility to police all the information that comes on it, and make sure only the good maps get love and attention, you kill what this site was designed to do. This has been an issue with this community for a while, and the features bring highlight to the issue.
This place is for becoming better map makers, and showcasing your maps. Nothing else. Stop trying trying to make this your alter of superiority, enjoy the maps, and comment as much as you can, even on the maps you don't like, because it helps the community grow and become better, and it grows better mappers.
I'm so sick of listening to the bitching that goes on in these threads feature after feature, so I'm asking a favor of all of you, just shut up and enjoy the game.

Weres the danger?
This map is entirely too easy, and there is no threat at all.

Heh, I dunno how I did that. It was completely by accident, I assure you.
Also, everyone, I loved this map when it came out, and I still love it today. I'm sorry if you don't like it, but that doesn't mean I don't.

I agree that
this probably was a novelty map when it came out, but there is no way it deserves a feature...a map shouldn't be featured on the basis that it is one of the first of its kind, otherwise you'd have to feature the first race, the first dda, the first door-eyrie, even if the race is short and has little flow, the dda uses only launchpads, the door eyrie is long and boring, etc.
Featured maps should be chosen for their quality rather than their historical significance, and I personally don't think that this map is of the standard required to attain that position. It's alright but not nearly as good as the average feature. Of course I don't want to insult Numa_Ninja, he should get credit for introducing a new concept. But a feature is just ridiculous.

I liked it!
It's not well executed, but I still like it, and I can see why gloomp would want to feature this. I'd agree with kablamo-boom, although this should be tried on a more conventional map, imo.

It seems lucky jumps are the only thing required for this map.

Awful map.
Perhaps the concept is neat, if not a little obvious, but the execution was really bad.

Am I correct in this assumption?
