Description	The bounce pad does not affect N when he gets stuck. Just watch until he is squshed between the thwump and the tile, then move N around. Now, if you jump, it will activate.

This is compression.

N is getting squished between the thwump (inside it) and the launchpad. N got smacked into the thwump causing when N jumps he stays on the thwump's surface.
