Description | It certainly has been a while, hasn't it?
I actually had an idea for a kradda (or any dda, really) with a sort of "story". Since the creator has complete control over what happens to the player, I thought it would be interesting to expand on the concept that there could be more than "and then the rocket barely missed" (not to say that it isn't awesome when that happens). As it stands, this kradda is unfinished, but the "story" is meant to go something like this: A man comes into the world ignorant and weary. Two rockets approach him, but he is ignorant and doesn't see them as a threat and in fact helps and saves them several times (in the form of opening regular doors). He soon gets suspicious of how uncomfortably close to him these rockets get and starts to help them from more afar (in the form of opening switch doors). Paranoia and madness sets in, and the man tries to escape his companions, using his speed and his inexplicable ability to summon solid walls as obstacles for the rockets (who of course survive though the cracks). In his madness and fear of pursuit, the man actually destroys himself (falling, going too fast, or crushed in one of his traps, I'm not sure; I didn't get that far) while the rockets never posed a threat to him (maybe they just wanted a friend, or something). Knowing the "story" I think it makes for a more interesting viewing experience. Call it what you will, I thought it would be interesting to explore. I stopped before I approached the latter half of the "story" from lack of inspiration and I'll probably get back to it later, or hell, one of you guys could continue it if you'd like. As far as technical aspects, considering I haven't done anything with this game until recently, I'd say this came out pretty well. Looking back at my other maps, I saw heavy reliance on bounce pads, which I tried to rectify with this map. I also saw how messy past maps were, both stagnated and in motion, and tried to clean this one up as best I could. I also tried for some aesthetic sense which has been lacking in previous maps inspired by one of my previous tilesets which I I liked very much, "Spaghettification". So in short: A half finished idea I had that I or one of you could finish later. |
