Description | I worked 4 hours on this, you'd better freaking play it.
(developer comments) I've made some really good races before, so I don't know what exactly happened here. I wanted to make a race map that had a very abrasive flow (hence the name), but after many errors and setbacks I forgot what I was doing and made a very unorganized map, exactly what a race shouldn't be. I was very frustrated at the time, so I just called it a day, rushed the ending, and submitted it. You can see my frustration in the original description, as I was not happy for spending 4 hours (without breaks!) on this to get almost nothing in return... |

I honestly
did not like this. The bit at the start was cool at first, but it needed to be smoother. like, too much speed was lost on the bumps. then, the next bit after the launchpad was a bit hard to find. You need to remember that if you have been playtesting for so long, the flow seems really obvious. some gold to suggest the route would have been nice up there. The trapdoors that popped up were mostly unnecessary; you could have made do with much less than what popped up.
Then the bit with running past the thwump was really bad. Going with as much speed as I could get from just running, I couldn't quite make it into the gap that was there. Sometimes the laser shot me as I ran down the tube, and in this demo it was the rocket that got me. That room wasn't the greatest either. Why the two bounceblocks? If there was just one, I would have considered a double jump off the side of it. Also, the corner around the ceiling there absolutely awful. Too rough. You want to conserve speed with a race, not destroy it so easily.
You should know that floating doors are awful to look at, unless the gap is even. Going up to the launchpad could have been done smoothly, but it wasn't. After going around the first bend, ideally you want me to land on a flat tile, do I don't lose speed hitting the sloped one. Then if I wasn't doing it right, the laser fired and blocked my path wtf.
Then at the end, you went and changed styles. Lets have some square oneways that really don't go with the rest of the map.
The best part of this entire race was running along the top of the thwump, then having it stop beneath me as I ran off the edge down to the exit.
2/5
