Description | If there were such things as octopi with six legs, this is probably what they would look like (at least in my world). Watch out for the formidable creatures' eyes. |

A formidable creature, with formidable eyes.
This map is really interesting. I really liked the mix of race and action elements. Specially the playful entrance into the upper chamber.
However, I found that chamber annoyingly difficult. The drones are fine, but the gauss turret + rockets combo was sort of overwhelming. Maybe (I mean, definitely) that's on my lack of skill, but I had a lot more fun trying this map out without the gauss turret.
The thwump chambers are pretty neat and I really liked how despite the map's symmetry, most of the times I played I approached one of them from the top and the other from the bottom, so it wasn't repetitive at all. Now with 2~3 rockets on your feet and the timing constraint of the thwump, entering these rooms is pretty challenging. But once again, the gauss turret inside them was sort of overwhelming. It made it pretty difficult to shake those rockets off once I was in, and was also a bit annoying on the way out. I'd honestly remove them as well.
Another thing that made me resort to trying this map in edit mode was the time. Of course, there are no time constraints there, so I didn't have to add any, but this map's length warrants at least some gold. It is utterly frustrating to properly manoeuvre one's way through a rocket and drone infested chamber, only to be yanked upwards by a launchpad before getting all three keys, because not only will one have to evade rockets, gauss and drones all over again, but do so much at a much faster pace. I understand time must be of the essence in a map with race elements, so maybe gold could be sparse, or clumped in difficult places, or only accessible past some check marks (for instance, the thwump chambers). I'm sure there are places gold would compliment the mollusc aesthetic.
Despite my criticisms, I had a lot of fun playing this map, and even saved it (with the aforementioned tweaks). It is a flawed, but nonetheless formidable map, with a lot of potential. I wouldn't have bothered to write such an extensive comment had I not really liked it. In accordance with this map's theme, I give it a hex out of octo (rounded up, so 4).
