I don't like

the clumped lasers or turrets/rocket. You should stay away from object clumping in all your maps, race or not. Instead of making the flow interesting you had a tunnel wich you followed and then followed back. While it's good to use some parts of the map multiple times, there and back isn't the right way to do it. For a good race map the right flow will be the only way that makes sense to complete it, you shouldn't need to outline the path with gold. Finally save for a few mines and those lasers none of the enemies really affected gameplay, they were just there to be there. Don't do that. For a first race though, that was really good. Don't stop making them just because I'm a dick.
