Map Data

Description Considerably harder than my first thwump- based room level, the creativly called 'thwump rooms'.

Going up on the right- hand side is a bit of a mystery to me- I can get it every, every single time I spawn there, but never when I reach it when going through my level- if you guys have the same difficulty, I'll change that bit of the level somewhat.

Anyway, enjoy!

I like it.

It's enjoyable and evry challenging.

Maybe there are too many references to Mother Thumping this and Mother Thumping that already out there, though.

golden.

4.5
...but ultimately, you are doing nothing except to state your own opinion: there are no formal, standardised rating criteria; and, until I see some kind of charter in the 'N' forums, I'll continue rating in accordance with my own specifications.

re: Newbs...

Look, elitists vs n00bs isn't the issue here. Ok, given maybe my main point was kind of shady in what I said but basically you people ARE n00bs because you have not got used to the REAL way the rating system SHOULD be used. First of all, we have catagories but we also have sub-catagories. You would have had to be around long enough to know that wich you don't. I don't blame you for not knowing but trying to hit back when you are told is just sad (espeacilly since you are trying to talk like the architect using big words needlessly that irrevicably and inevidably compromise the effectiveness of the message you're trying to convey XD ). While the catagory system can be used to judge how a map can be rated, you have to look more at the sub catagory. Catagories tell you what kind of pace the map will have:

Survival - You won't be able to stop moving
Action - There will be rest points and flat-out bits
Puzzle - Usually calmer, coller sort of thinking maps
Race - Usually won't be too dangerous as far as dying goes and you will be able t go very fast etc

Then you have your sub-catagories like "jumper", "thwump puzzle" or "climber". This is where you guys seem to loose your case. You are still unable to identify these which is understandable. I try to rate like this:

Enjoyable: 50%
Look: 15%
Flow: 20%
Obvious effot: 15%

Also, I am well aware that you could have been playing this for ages and tall that crap but ti doesn't matter when you go missing major points and such.
Sayoing it's too cluttered and busy? What is that? He hasn't clumped.
The lazy and repetitous maps are the ones that make you run backwards and forwards OVER THE SAME PLACE to get switches etc. You don't go over the same place twice in this and no two places fell the same so that makes almost no sense.

Alos, I am no n00b.

Newbs...

...not 'n00bs'. You n00b.

Furthermore, I wasn't aware that you had to make maps in order to be able to criticise them. Élitist, reactionary types such as yourself are arguably far worse than any 'newb' such as Kapkana who would dare belittle the work of an established "veteran" within the 'N' community (albeit in a legitimate fashion; although, that said, I was unaware as to the arbitrary qualifying benchmark of 'fifty-or-more maps' required in order to rate without fear of reprisal: more fool me, eh?).

In any case: for all you know, and irrespective of my own (admittedly meagre) map-making credentials, I could have been playing 'N' since its first beta release. Take that into consideration before mouthing-off, 'n00b': music critics are not always musicians themselves; however, that doesn't serve to make their critiques accordingly any the less valid.

I credited the execution, because that is entirely without fault. However, I have seen maps by formica which challenge convention more than this one (e.g. 'Shooting Gallery', or 'Rocket', both of which blew my mind; the former has that concinnity of purpose, as opposed to the sort of 'filler' material on display here), hence the 'lazy, repetitious and rather unimaginative' detraction.

All this hubris over a '3-star' rating. My God; way to suppress freedom of speech, imbecile. Guess we 'newbs' should know our place in future, eh?
Profesh? kapkana? Who are you guys? n00bs trying to act sophisticated and saying all this fancy crap that means nothing whilst parading around as if they know what they're talking about is worrying. I've had a look through both you're map archives and I don't think you have enough experince to be talking like that or rating like for those reasons. Instead of picking up a bunch of inteeligent sounding one-liners form the other maps, get some good ideas of what a map should be.

Sorry about my bitching but this has to be said.

Completion...

Thanks a lot, Maximo. A 5 from you means far more than any ratings from any other members. Thank you.

far as I got...

past that point I've been consistant 100% of the time... grrr... this is a great map and I don't know how they are saying unimaginative. The riding the back of the thwump at the start is enough to get you 4 stars... the rest gets you the other 1... just great map.

I'm torn...

It's bloody hard, yes, but in a lazy, repetitious and rather unimaginative sort of way. The execution is nonetheless commendable, but you can do (and have done) better than this. However, it is aesthetically consistent. 3 stars.

Fair enough...

But every last mine _does_ serve a purpose.

while

i am sort of new to this thing, and you have created many-a-fine map, if you ask me, this is wayyyy wayyyy too cluttered and busy. in a totally unecessary fashion
