Featured Map: Hello, triple digits! by 1211
Yesterday when I interviewed 1211:
"So, you were exited to get to the triple digits?"
"Yeah. Big 100. I wanted to make a map that would blow everyone's socks off... if they're wearing socks."
"Where did you get the inspiration to create such a map?"
"I don't know - I suppose it just comes to me. I like it."
Needless to say, I've been sockless since the first time playing Hello, triple digits!

Everything is on hold until NUMA is up with any sort of regularity. Dronies, features, etc.
More info at forum.ninjarobotyeti.com in the nmaps.net subforum, and, as always, on the IRC at mountai.net.

Fair warning: I am going to shut down the feature system completely if there is not an awesome Halloween review in the next few hours. (Looking at you, gloom.)
Dronies 2011

So, it's gonna take some work to run and compile Dronies this year. We understand that they're a great community tradition, and we want to put them on -- but only if you guys are still interested.
Thus, I would like feedback. Hit up one of my maps and leave either: "Yes, we want the Dronies," or "No, they've run their course." (Or something along those lines.)
There is also a thread [forum.ninjarobotyeti.com] over on the forums for those interested.

10,000-Map Challenge ***UPDATE***

Well, folks, we're plugging right along with the 10,000 maps. As of late, we are about 1/20th to our goal. We just hit the 500-map checkpoint!
I have been in the process of moving my stuff and getting situated with work and school. Because of this I have not been available to check in on the happenings of NUMA as often or as in-depth as I would like.
There is something I need to clear up, because a lot of you seem confused or maybe I didn't convey what I meant in the original post. The maps which mark the 100th and 1000th maps are the maps whose number ends in ****80. Remember, we started with map 216980, which means every 100th map would end with 80. Same thing goes for the 1000th map checkpoints.
Alternatively, if you submit a map which has a number divisible by 1,000 you get access to all of the prizes available.
More themes! I hope these are giving you guys some ideas for maps, or at least some great maps to play, regardless.

7-Day Theory

It has now been about 7 days since the beginning of this contest. In that time we've seen a little over 200 maps, which averages out to around 29 maps per day. That's a /huge/ increase from the week before this contest started, when we were seeing about 7 maps per day.
I'm also extremely proud to see comments on the majority of maps submitted so far. Glad to see you all playing and creating maps together. :D
So that you are all aware, I am in the process of moving houses and starting college as well as going back to work. I may not have a lot of time to post maps myself but I will still check in quite often to post new themes or updates to the contest itself. I hope to see you guys continuing to put out a lot of maps over the next few months!
I'm still developing a few ideas to run alongside this challenge but I have to talk with flagmyidol before implementing them. Keep your eyes on the News Posts so that you can stay up to date.
Happy mapping!

10,000-Map Challenge **UPDATE**

There is a thread on the forums which you can post your input. The thread can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=8952 [forum.ninjarobotyeti.com]
After some discussion within the thread it has come to my attention that some people are worried about the quality of maps that may be submitted at the various checkpoints. This is an update of the prize rules.
For every 1000th map, you will have the opportunity to write your own Review that is guaranteed to be posted for at least 24 hours. You still receive the option of custom title, ad-free browsing or something free in your email.
For every map number divisible by 1,000 (such as map 218000) the same will go for you.
In case you are already a Reviewer and you receive one of these prizes, I may Feature a map of yours since you can already write a Review for any map you so choose.

A SPOT OF THEMES
These can be used to help give you direction for your maps. Feel free to use them, abuse them, or disregard them.

The 10,000-Map Challenge

Hello, NUMAns. My name is origami_alligator, which if you did not know that already then you know it now. I was admin once, before my account was taken over by some self-proclaimed insect overlords and I had to disable my account and remove myself from NUMA.
Since then I have seen the decline of people using this site. I do not know if that is because the people who are left are a bunch of cranky users who have been here forever or if the site just isn't fun anymore. We are experiencing a drought of maps. Although we all have lives outside of here I don't think this place is ready to die just yet.
So I present this 10,000-Map Challenge. A couple years ago on NUMA we were experiencing about 80-150 maps PER DAY. 10,000 maps could easily be done in 100 days. At the rate we're going it will take us more than 3 years. Fortunately for us, we have a little over 100 days to complete this before the year is over.
If this contest takes off, which I hope it will, every so often I will post a few different themes on the front page of NUMA which you can use to help craft your maps.
You might be wondering what's in it for you. I will tell you right now.
For every 100 maps, the person who submitted the 100th map will receive a custom title. If you already have a custom title, I'll give you ad-free browsing, and if you already have both I'll give you something free over your email. For every 1,000 maps, the person who submitted the 1,000th map will receive a Featured Map in addition to the 100-map checkpoint prizes. If you already have a Featured map and do not want another one then you still receive one of the prizes for the 100-map checkpoint.
In addition, for anyone who submits a map whose number is divisible by 1,000 (e.g., if you submit map 218,000) then you get all of the prizes listed above, regardless of whether it is the 100th or 1000th map.
The person who submits the 10,000th map will receive 3 Featured maps, a custom title, ad-free browsing and 3 free somethings over their email.
Start posting. The map number which starts the contest is 216980. That means in 20 maps, someone will already be winning a prize.
RULES: If you post a double map, or delist a map, you are not eligible for any prizes for the next checkpoint and it will go to the person who submitted before you. The "2 maps per page" rule is no longer in effect until December 31st, however, if you spam the map page with more than 5 maps at a time I will ban you until December 31st.
